Nobody here is a touring staffer. We grew up with lake-effect dumps and summer bent that bakes by noon. The wheel is a job, not a personality.
Lead
Mara Keane
Mara ran a waterfront snow crew before she ever touched a belt. She still reads ice the way other people read grain. Frozen aprons are her sit: leading-edge height that will not chatter, camber that will not hook a crust. She opened Grind Bay in 2019 after two winters of recutting friends’ Florida wedges in a rented stall off Main.
If your sheet has a yellow slash through a hero swing, that was Mara. She will not cut metal on a lie.
Sand and bunk
Dorian “Dory” Peck
Dory grew up walking Delaware Park after nor’easters, when the bunkers pack like wet cement and then blow out in a week of sun. Packed sand and crusted faces are his argument. He keeps a jar of Erie-side sand on the bench so a “Florida bounce” head can feel what 716 actually holds.
Gap, lob, leave
Halina Nowak
Halina’s family still talks about the Blizzard of ’77 as if it were last Tuesday. She tracks how a thaw shortens carry and how a firm August green makes a 52 and a pitching iron occupy the same number. Gap wedge, lob relief, and the putter leave after the last cut are her desk. She writes yardages in metres and yards because half the room argues in both.
Who answers the phone
The same three. There is no front-desk script. Call (716) 555-0119 during open hours or write bay@grindbay.site. If you get a machine, it is Tuesday or Wednesday.
